"So, Jaylene, did you really mean what you said to Bryan?" Ricky asked as they were eating lunch. "What part?" she asked. He smiled. She knew exactly what part he meant, but he played along. "The part about me being someone you care about?" She just smiled, "Yes, I meant every word. You're the only person I'd ever consider or want to be a part of my life. I really like you, Ricky." He blushed, "I really like you too, Jaylene." They were interrupted by Bryan. "Hey, Jaylene! Beautiful name to fit a beautiful girl!". "You know what Masters? For once, you're right! Now go away and leave Jaylene alone! I'm warning you!" Ricky stood up for her. "And how scared do you think I am right now Alvarez? I'm not!" Bryan snapped. Then, Ricky was inflamed, "Well, you should be! In case you're forgetting, I'm captain of the football team, and those guys could make you cry faster than you could say 'I surrender' so I'd watch your back if I were you Masters!" He ran off like a little puppy dog. Jaylene laughed, "You don't have to do that for me Ricky. I'm a big girl, you know. I can take care of things myself." "I know," he replied, "but you're really special, Jaylene." He hesitated, then said, "I felt this way since I first saw you, but I have enough courage to say it now...I love you, Jaylene."
